Guided Tour - Café
Once through the front door, going forward and turning left
around the corner will bring you to one of the most important areas
of the Hospital - the Café! For the last frew years this area
has had several nicknames, mainly based around who's in charge. It's
been Cafe en Gave, Wendy's and currently operates under the title
So-Sue-Me...
This is the area where, tea, coffee, sandwiches and sympathy are
dispensed by Sue and her tireless team. At mealtimes the Café
will serve food to roughly 150 people.
On your left at this point is an area used to store voitures,
the large blue buggies used to transport the sick from place to
place in Lourdes. They are also used for relaxing in by the helpers,
and occasionally for a quick nap! This area is also used for people
to have their tea, as this group is doing here:
There are also doors to a sunny area outside, where people can
relax on their breaks and enjoy the sun, as we can see in the photo
below.
The Café is also the first place visited in the morning
for all helpers, to get breakfast and meet your workmates. It's also
a prime social area, and when the odd practical joke is played, it's
usually concocted & executed here!
